Symptoms
A diaper rash is a rash located on the skin around the diaper area, especially in crevices or folds on the skin. The skin is red and irritated and may burn when you are using baby wipes on the area. Causes Diaper rash is normally caused by friction, when a wet diaper rubs against the skin. The longer a baby is in a wet diaper, the more likely she is to experience diaper rash. Diaper rash can also be caused by a reaction to diaper wipes, diapers, laundry detergent, soap, lotion, or elastic pants. Mistaken for Yeast or fungal infections. Yeast infections usually have a bright, beefy appearance and are more common after the use of antibiotics. Treatment Clotrimazole creams and lotions should be applied to the affected area. This will clear up the rash and soothe burning. If the rash does not start to fade within a couple of days, it may be a yeast infection and may require a prescription cream.
